The look of wonder she beholds and his satisfaction of seeing her finally happy in the Underworld is truly a magnificent sight to behold. The light reflected and the creatures instilled within the garden show just how much Hades wants his lovely Persephone to love and admire him. You have captured both characters in a complexity of awe and love so well, that I must say, I am a little jealous.
This is an extremely beautiful piece and I must applaud you on your efforts and success of completing it. Bravo.
Ummm...*faint* I love this so incredibly much!! So very lovely and all the little lights and the waterfall and the dragons (if they are dragons) and Hades's frumpy look!!! XD So lovely!! The colors are perfectly harmonized and I love the outline of the house in the backround!! Is there any way to describe how much I love this? No, no possible way. I'm going to it and stare at it for a few more hours. ^^ LOVELY!!
Very impressive work, I can't believe how real the woman looks. The setting you made here really shows the creativity I've come to know in your paintings. Some of the back ground elements look a bit plain though, but not enough to ruin the dark yet enchanting mood that seems to pout out of this piece.
I have a...ummm..small obsession with Persephone's character and story, and was really excited to see this in my inbox! I like the new take on the story, and the picture itself is beyond lovely! All the details just amaze me, especially all the lovely flowers and creatures in her garden. The two people, I'm assuming Persephone and Hades , look absoloutely amazing. Their clothing is nothing short of spectacular! Persephone's dress is brilliant, it has so many beautiful details in it, and would be amazing to wear! They both have a very otherworldly presence to them, which you managed to pull off extremely well. Their expressions also just amaze me, Hades seems to be looking at her in admiration with the slight sirk on his face, and Persephone just seems amazed at everything, and in awe of her situation. And all the little light sources are beautiful, and add a lot of interest into the picture. this is definitely my favorite picture from you ever...I want the story behind it!
Story behind it? Apart from the great saga of "Runaway drawing that I now have to colour with hundreds of tricky bits!" ?
Well, I was doing this assingment thingi and it was ment for Jack and the Beanstalk.. but in my search for fairy tale books, I stumbled upon 'Orpheus in the Underworld'. I was already familiar with it, but this particulare retelling (by Anthony Horowitz) caught my interest. So, scrap Jack and the Beanstalk, yay Orpheus, and off we went designing lots of things for a fantsy/sci-fi adaption of the story (some of which is in my scraps).
Anyway! I got a liiiitle carried away with the Underworld aspect of the story, Hades and Persephone in particulare. I had it so that they were very much 'home bodies', not getting involved with the outside world, and just pottering around the Underworld, doing cross stich on prisoners, teaching Cerberus new tricks (acturly, in my retelling Cerberus and Hades have a whole other side story, but whatever), hence the 'frumpy' look to Hades design.
This painting came about mostly out of bordom, though was inpired by a fleeting recolection of Persephone having a garden or what have you. Runaway imagination and lots of hard work, here's the finnished product. There was ment to be a garden part in the background, but I was threatening nervous breakdown, so we left it at this. glad you like it so much!
